This week we are thrilled to have a new Star Femme d’Hockey M2 Assurance: Cassidy Herman! As the lead female advisor for Advancement Hockey Advising (AHA), Cassidy deserves to be recognized.
CASSIDY HERMAN: DEVELOPING WOMEN’S HOCKEY
Ms. Herman knows her hockey! She has gone from player to coach and now to player development advisor.
Her hockey career
The former defender for the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees women’s hockey team was named an RSEQ League all-star. She was also named to the USPORT All-Star team and participated in the Hockey Canada Summer Showcase. Nothing less!
Cassidy Herman went on to play two years as an NCAA Division 1 defender for the University of Maine Black Bears women’s hockey team. She was honored both years as a rising star and member of the University of Maine Dean’s List.
Finally, Cassidy played three years of junior hockey in the PWHL, again as a defender for the Ottawa Lady Senators.
Her coaching career
Cassidy Herman has coached on-ice skills for the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees summer camps, as well as head instructor for the Sensplex facility and the U18 clinic at the University of Maine. In addition, she has been a member of the on-ice staff for the Ottawa Capital Condors.
But it doesn’t stop there! Our Femme d’Hockey star has also been an assistant coach for the following hockey teams:
- Junior U12 Brewer Girls Hockey USA,
- Women’s U18 Penobscot Ice Breakers USA,
- Women’s 7/8 Holy Trinity Tornadoes from Holy Trinity Catholic High School.
Because she can’t get enough hockey in her life
Ms. Herman has served as the University of Ottawa’s CHL (Corporate Hockey League) Coordinator as well as a representative for Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest.
Now a mental health awareness representative and advocate at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre (R.O.M.H.C.), Cassidy joined the AHA team because she wants to use her experiences to empower the next generation of young female hockey players. She takes a humble approach in building relationships to collaboratively support her athletes to achieve their desire for growth in a compassionate, holistic and sustainable way.
